Newcastle United are one of the favourites to sign Burnley striker Andre Gray, according to the latest bookmakers odds.
Sky Bet have priced the newly promoted Premier League side at 3/1 to land the 25-year-old striker during the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Magpies are currently ahead of a host of Premier League clubs who are also interested in the forward such as West Ham and Tottenham.
Newcastle are the second favourites behind Merseyside side club Everton who are currently 9/4.
Gray played an essential role in helping Burnley get promoted to the Premier League during the 2015/16 campaign where he scored a total of 25 goals in the Championship.
It’s been a solid debut season in England’s top flight for Gray as he has contributed with nine goals and two assists in 31 Premier League appearances.
Newcastle fans would been delighted to know that the 25-year-old striker scored a hat-trick against bitter rivals Sunderland in Burnley’s 4-1 victory on New Year’s Eve at Turf Moor.
His goals but more importantly his all round performances this season have helped Burnley maintain their Premier League status for the first time in their history.
Newcastle had to rely on goals from the likes of Dwight Gayle and Ayoze Perez to achieve automatic promotion this season and Andre Gray could certainly be a great addition to the squad as he’s already experienced a full season in the Premier League.
In other Newcastle transfer news, Michael Bridges has revealed he told the Magpies to sign this Premier League ace three years a go.
