Slaven Bilic has hailed defensive midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate for helping to “stabilise his defence” following a change of system after a poor start to the Premier League campaign.

The Croatian manager spoke of how the 26-year-old has been pivotal for the east London club in their recent fixtures.

The Hammers are unbeaten in their last four matches in all competitions with three victories and one draw and Kouyate scored the opener in Wednesday evening’s EFL Cup tie against Chelsea.

Speaking ahead of West Ham’s clash against Everton at Goodison Park, Bilic hailed the midfielder, as quoted by the club’s official Twitter account.

Ronald Koeman’s Everton side are currently going through a poor spell of form following a good start to the new Premier League campaign.

The Toffees have gone five matches without a win in all competitions and West Ham may see the clash as the perfect opportunity to play their opponents.

However, they will be aware of the impressive form of star striker Romelu Lukaku, who has scored an impressive nine goals in 11 appearances for club and country this season and will be hoping to cause problems to Kouyate and the West Ham defence.
