Liverpool Under-23’s thrashed their Tottenham counterpart 6-2 on Monday evening spearheaded by Cameron Brannagan.

The attacking midfielder netted a double as the Merseyside club score four goals in the first half at Stevenage.

Goals from Harry Wilson, Ben Woodburn, Brooks Lennon and Alexander-Arnold helped the youngsters to three points in Premier League two.

Liverpool got off to a wonderful start by scoring three goals in the opening eight minutes as winger Wilson, midfielder Woodburn and Brannagan caused the Spurs defence numerous problems.

Just before half-time Alexander-Arnold scored an unstoppable 22 yard strike to give Michael Beale’s side a deserved four-goal lead going into the break.

Spurs did pull one back on the hour mark, but Brannagan doubled his tally against the run of play soon after, before substitute Lennon rounded off an impressive night for Beale’s men.

Liverpool Echo James Pearce reported the win on his personal Twitter account.

The Anfield club had put four past Leicester City in their previous encounter on September 11, which now gives the youngsters three wins on the bounce in the newly formed competition.

The senior side are set to play Championship outfit Derby in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night, with numerous youngsters making a name for themselves.

In other Liverpool team news, manager Jurgen Klopp could select a 4-2-3-1 formation against Derby, in what is expected to be a strong XI in the EFL Cup tie.
