Steve Bruce has given a damning assessment of Aston Villa’s 1-0 defeat against Norwich on Tuesday night and has vowed there will be changes to the side when they face QPR on Sunday.

The Aston Villa manager was furious by the poor level of performance from his players as they suffered a second successive defeat in the Championship.

The defeat came 10 days after suffering a 2-0 loss against Leeds despite Villa showing huge signs of improvement under Bruce after he replaced Roberto Di Matteo in October.

However, the performance against Norwich was lacklustre and Bruce was disappointed by the lack of effort shown by his players, so has vowed to drop some players for their next game.

“There are quite a few players who have travelled up and down the country without getting their chance since I have been here, but that is going to change now,” said Bruce, as reported by the Birmingham Mail.

“There will be changes to the side on Sunday, I can assure you that. It’s my responsibility to ensure there is no repeat of that performance.

“I can accept getting beat, what I can’t accept is players not putting their boots on, not turning up.”

Villa currently sit in 13th position in the Championship table and have won just two of their last five fixtures after suffering a drop in form.

Under Bruce, Villa have gradually climbed up the table, taking 18 points from his first 10 games in charge but the defeat against Norwich has dented their promotion hopes slightly.

Sunday’s opponents QPR currently sit in 18th place and go into the clash on the back of a disappointing 1-0 defeat against Derby in a game where they dominated possession and the number of chances on goal.

They have suffered four straight defeats so Bruce will be hoping his side can regain form and pick up three crucial points.

In other Aston Villa news, this swap-deal could take place after this Premier League club show further interest.
