Caleb Ekuban has paid tribute to the quality of new Leeds United signing Samuel Saiz by hailing his vision and ability to pick a pass.
Saiz marked his Leeds debut with a brilliant hat-trick in the team’s League Cup triumph over Port Vale in midweek.
The playmaker produced three classy finishes to set up a 4-1 win in the first round of the competition and announce himself after a £3million move from Spanish side Huesca last month.
Ekuban, who also marked his competitive debut with a goal, set up the third of Saiz’s goals, allowing the Spaniard to complete his hat-trick with a top corner strike in front of the Kop.
Ekuban, who has also made the move to Elland Road this summer, has been struck by Saiz’s ability after spending a month training and playing with his fellow new recruit.
“Samuel was amazing,” Ekuban said to the Yorkshire Evening Post. “He was all over the pitch and really deserved his hat-trick. It wasn’t just the goals. He can see any of us when we’re moving and he gives you the pass that no-one expects.”
Saiz is expected to make his first league start for Leeds in their Championship clash against Preston on Saturday afternoon.
Ekuban is likely to be on the substitute’s bench, with Chris Wood set to be restored to the starting line-up despite doubts over his future.
In other Leeds United news, Football Insider can exclusively reveal that three Premier League clubs have tabled formal bids for Chris Wood.
