Jamie Carragher has revealed that he tempted Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp to appear on Sky’s Monday Night Football programme after asking him for over a year.

Klopp, 49, appeared alongside the former Reds defender ahead of Burnley’s victory over Watford on Monday evening.

Carragher was impressed by the Merseyside boss as he gave detailed insights into his tactical approach to the game as well as his thoughts on his own abilities as a player.

The Liverpool legend told the 5Times Podcast of Klopp: “He was brilliant. Afterwards everyone was talking about it and it seems like it went down well.

“We knew before we got him on he is box office. He has done the job before in Germany, but he has just got that type of character that whatever he puts his hand to people instantly take a liking to him because of his charisma.

“And he obviously knows what he is talking about because he is one of the top managers out there.

“I’m delighted Liverpool have got him and delighted he came on the show – I’ve been asking him for about 12 months. He went down a storm.”

Klopp has overseen a strong start from Liverpool this season having already beaten Leicester, Chelsea and Arsenal in the Premier League.

The Reds currently sit in fourth place in the table after taking 13 points from their first six games.

Klopp’s side travel to Wales on Saturday to take on Swansea at the Liberty stadium.

A win for Liverpool could see them move up to second place in the table as they seek their sixth victory in a row.
