Manchester United scouts have monitored Celtic defender Kieran Tierney, according to a report.
The Daily Star claim that representatives from United were present to watch the 20-year-old during Scotland’s 2-2 draw against England in a World Cup qualifier.
It is understood that United manager Jose Mourinho wants to add a left-back during the summer window and Celtic’s youngster is believed to be one of the best young British full-backs around.
The report details that Tierney is valued at £15million and the Bhoys would prefer to keep him next season.
Tierney has become an ever-preset in the Celtic starting XI recently and made 40 appearances across all competitions last season.
The attack minded left-back scored twice and supplied 12 assists, highlighting his quality going forward.
Tierney completed 90 minutes in Scotland’s match against England and showed his versatility by playing at centre-back in a three-man defence.
Football Insider verdict:
Celtic should ignore interest in Tierney during this summer and convince him to stay for at least another 12 months. The 20-year-old is under contract with the Scottish champions until 2021 and is a product of the club’s academy. He is quickly developing into a superb full-back and looks destined to tear up the Premier League in the future. However, he still has most of his career ahead of him and there is no pressure to complete his big-money move yet. Tierney is guaranteed first-team action if he stays with Brendan Rodgers and can still experience Champions League football. He would not necessarily cement a starting position at Old Trafford and should avoid a move for now.
