Brendan Rodgers could make Joe Allen his first signing at Celtic if he can fight off the interests of five other clubs battling it out for the Liverpool star’s signature, according to reports.

In a report from HITC Sport citing the Daily Mail, the Scottish giant are battling Leicester, Swansea, Stoke, Bournemouth and Sevilla to secure the 26-year-old services ahead of the new season.

The move would be the third time the pair had worked together, after they previously doubled up at both Swansea and Liverpool.

Despite pundits praising Allen’s re-emergence under Jurgen Klopp this season it appears that the former Wrexham player could be made available for transfer this summer as he enters the final year of his contract with the Merseyside club.

The creative midfielder has scored just seven times in 129 games for Liverpool and it remains unclear what role he might have under his new manager.

Rodgers is also planning on raiding Liverpool for Joe Gomez and Andre Wisdom too, as reported by Football Insider

Celtic will be looking to bolster their squad as they welcome Rangers back into the Scottish Premier League.

The Ibrox club have already made key additions to their squad including Jordan Rossiter, Clint hill and Joey Barton.

Rodgers will be looking to put his trophy less three seasons with Liverpool behind him as he attempts to defend Celtic’s SPL victory in their last domestic campaign.
