Andy Lynch claims it is “very probable” that Steven Gerrard will complete a sensational transfer to Celtic.
The former Hoops star claims Premier League all-time great Gerrard would love to move to the Scottish club because “he is a real Celtic man” and the Hoops could give him what he wants.
“I don’t think it’s outrageous at all, or just another rumour. I think it could be very probable to see Steven Gerrard at Celtic,” said Lynch, as reported by the Daily Record.
“When you hear stories about really big names coming to play in Scotland you usually think, ‘Ah they’d never be able to get him,’ but in this case it’s not such an outlandish idea.
“Celtic would be a perfect fit for him. The decisive factor could be that he is a real Celtic man. That took me by surprise when I met him at half-time during a Liverpool game at Stoke.
“He said, that’s my team, that’s who I support. He was very adamant about his passion for Celtic. Nor Brendan [Rodgers] is there and perhaps with a coaching role added as a sweetener, I don’t think it’s an impossible dream for fans.”
The 36 year-old midfielder enjoyed a successful 17-year career in Merseyside and he came close to winning the elusive Premier League title under Brendan Rodgers in 2014.
Celtic, Newcastle and Liverpool have all been linked with a move for the midfielder who could join up with his beloved club or two of his former managers in Rafa Benitez and Rodgers.
