Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is set to throw Costa Rica international Cristian Gamboa in at the deep end against Barcelona on Tuesday.
The former West Brom full-back is expected to start as he offers more pace than Sweden international Mikael Lustig, who was in the first 11 that emphatically won the Old Firm derby on the weekend.
Celtic will need all the pace they can get, as they look to deal with Barcelona’s world-beating front three of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar.
Elsewhere, Hoops fans will be hoping veteran centre-back Kolo Toure can replicate his impressive Champions League performance against Real Madrid back in 2014 for Liverpool under Rodgers.
Dorus de Vries, Scott Sinclair and Moussa Dembele are also expected to start after all three hit the ground running with the Scottish champions since their summer arrivals.
Star striker Leigh Griffiths is the only big name casualty, as he still looks to recover from a hamstring injury that kept him out of Scotland’s game against Malta and Saturday’s 5-1 triumph. Hat-trick hero Dembele will look to improve on his seven goals in 11 games in place of Griffiths.
Australia international Tom Rogic is set to continue his fine form in the number 10 role, with Nir Bitton, James Forrest, Erik Sviatchenko and Kieran Tierney all expected to feature from the off.
