Brendan Rodgers is set to welcome back Jozo Simunovic to the heart of Celtic’s defence for Saturday’s clash against Inverness.
The Croatian defender was left at home during the Hoops Champions League clash against Borussia Moenchengladbach on Tuesday night, but is now expected to return for Rodgers’ side.
A return to the team for Simunovic is likely to see Costa Rica international Cristian Gamboa drop to the substitutes’ bench against the Caley Jags.
Simunovic, 22, will start alongside Denmark international Erik Svitachenko at centre back, which will see versatile star Mikael Lustig move across to right back.
On the left side of defence, Emilio Izaguirre will continue to replace crocked teenager Kieran Tierney who broke his ankle in a freak training ground injury last week.
Israel international Nir Bitton’s dismal form in the middle of the park is still fresh in the mind of former Liverpool boss Rodgers, who has picked Stuart Armstrong over him in the last three matches.
Captain Scott Brown will partner Armstrong, buoyed after being called up to Scotland’s national side for the first time in three months to face England.
The 47-time Scottish Champions are expected to maintain their impressive attacking foursome of James Forrest, Tom Rogic, Scott Sinclair and Moussa Dembele, who have together amassed an impressive 37 goals this season.
A win could see Rodgers’ side move to 12 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership, if Old Firm rivals Rangers drop points.
In other Celtic team news, Rodgers has had this to say about Celtic’s performance against Gladbach.
