Brendan Rodgers is weighing up a move for former Liverpool defender Andre Wisdom, according to a report.

The new Celtic manager is assessing the possibility of a reunion with the Anfield academy graduate.

The Scottish Sun claim Rodgers is keen on Wisdom after missing out on fellow Liverpool full-back Joe Gomez.

It is said that the northern Irishman will sanction a £3million move for the versatile Wisdom, who can play at centre-back and both full-back positions.

Wisdom, 23, is contracted to Liverpool until 2019 but is likely to be sold this summer after loan spells at Norwich, West Brom and Derby.

The former England Under-21 international spent the recently completed domestic season on loan at Carrow Road, making 14 appearances in all competitions.

The Leeds-born defender has played 22 matches for Liverpool and is rated by Rodgers, who is reportedly confident that the defender can be key to a Scottish Premiership title bid.

The Hoops manager also admires Gomez, 19, who joined Liverpool from Charlton for £3.5m last year but has been hit by a knee injury and is unlikely to be sold by the Merseysiders.

In other Celtic news, a prolific striker has responded to links with the Scottish giants seven years after they baulked at paying £3million for him.
