Celtic face rival interest from a string of European big-hitters as they attempt to tie Tom Rogic down to a new contract, according to a report.

The Scottish Sun claim Valencia and Fiorentina have joined Arsenal in closely monitoring the playmaker.

Rogic is said to have been watched by a number of top European clubs when he played for Australia in Friday night’s international defeat to England.

The 23-year-old, who has just 12 months left on his Parkhead contract, has been in talks with Celtic for months about a new deal.

But no agreement has been reached even though the Scottish giants are keen to tie the player down to an extended contract.

This has alerted several Spanish and Italian clubs, with Valencia and Fiorentina flying scouts to the Stadium of Light to watch Rogic impress in a 2-1 defeat to England.

New Celts boss Brendan Rodgers is assessing his squad and is expected to want to keep Rogic, who battled two years of injury to become a key man under Ronny Deila last term.

He scored ten goals in an impressive season that caught the attention of clubs from across Europe.

Speaking in March, he said his first choice is to sign a new contract with the Hoops.

“Hopefully we can agree something sooner rather than later because I’m happy here,” Rogic said, as quoted by the Scottish Sun. “I am really enjoying my time at Celtic and I am proud to be part of such a great football club.”

In other Celtic news, the club have clinched a deal for a veteran of Chelsea after the paperwork was finalised.
