Celtic have been frustrated in their bid to sign Liverpool defender Andre Wisdom as the two clubs can’t agree on the type of transfer, according to a report.

The Daily Mail claims that Celtic are keen on a loan deal for the versatile stopper while Liverpool want to sell Wisdom permanently.

The former West Brom loanee has been on high on the Hoops’ shortlist this summer. Manager Brendan Rodgers known for being a keen admirer of the England under-21 international after their time together at Anfield.

Wisdom spent last season at relegated Premier League side Norwich City, but made just 14 appearances in all competitions.

According to The Liverpool Echo, the defender is one of six senior men that have been told they can leave the Merseyside club before Wednesday’s 11pm deadline.

The Sun had claimed that the defender, was keen for his former manager Rodgers to give him a career lifeline after he dropped down the pecking order at Anfield behind undisputed first-choice right-back Nathaniel Clyne.

The Leeds-born defender has played 22 matches for Liverpool, after moving from Bradford City’s youth academy in 2008 at 15.

Celtic have already raided Rodgers’ old side as experienced defender Kolo Toure became one of the Northern Irishman’s five Parkhead signings.

Scott Sinclair, Dorus de Vries, Moussa Dembele and Kristoffer Ajer have also signed for Rodgers’ Champions League side, who are set to face Barcelona, Manchester City and Gladbach after seeing off Israeli side Hapoel Be’er Sheva over two legs.
