New Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers will taste his first Old Firm experience on 10 September – and The Hoops’ Twitter following have reacted passionately.

The derby will be Rangers’ first visit to Celtic Park in four years after they were demoted to the fourth tier of Scottish football.

Rodgers will take his new side to the Ibrox on New Year’s Day, with the third fixture scheduled for 11 March 2017.

The former Liverpool manager will be looking to make it six League wins in a row for the Hoops, who begin the defence of their 47th Scottish Premiership title on 6 August away at Hearts. Unusually, their second fixture has been postponed as Celtic have a friendly against Inter Milan on 13 August.

Celtic fans have reacted with excitement on Twitter ahead of the new instalments of the Old-Firm rivalry, with some fans highlightin, what promises to be a feisty rivalry to be found in the middle of the park between captain Scott Brown and the Gers’ new signing Joey Barton.

Here are some of the messages on Twitter:

In other Celtic news, Rodgers has entered a three-way race for a League 1 hotshot.
