Saidy Janko delivered an eyecatching display for Barnsley in their 4-0 hammering of Wolves on Tuesday – and Celtic fans wished he had been in their team to face Barcelona.

Janko, 20, joined the Championship team on a season-long loan from Celtic in the final days of the summer window.

The right-back began the campaign in Brendan Rodgers’ team, featuring in seven matches before he was deemed surplus to requirements.

New Celtic signing Cristian Gamboa started on the right side of the defence against Barcelona and had a chastening debut as his team were torn apart in a 7-0 thrashing at Camp Nou.

The former West Brom player came in at right-back for Mikael Lustig, who shifted across to centre-back in a new-look five man backline.

Celtic fans enviously eyed the display of Janko for Barnsley as the ex-Manchester United man scored a wonder goal and also delivered an assist with a brilliant run and cross as Paul Heckingbottom’s side ran riot at Molineux.

Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:

In other Celtic news, the club’s defender deal collapsed at the eleventh hour on deadline day.
