Celtic fans were ecstatic on Twitter as Tom Rogic netted a superb goal to give his side an early lead in the Betfred Cup final against Aberdeen.

The 23-year-old came in off the right wing to collect the ball and deliver a fantastic strike into the bottom left corner of the goal after 17 minutes of a clash that Celtic went on to win 3-0.

Rogic’s left-foot strike was his ninth goal of the season and his third in the Betfred Cup after he netted a brace against Motherwell in August.

The playmaker has had to fight for his place in the side since joining for £400,000 in January 2013 and has made just 35 league starts in total.

He’s proven to be a reliable goalscorer though and he has already scored against Aberdeen this season, during Celtic’s 1-0 victory in the Scottish Premiership last month.

The two sides are battling it out at the top of the league table, with Celtic enjoying an eight point lead over Rangers and a further 10 over Aberdeen but were dominant once again as they picked up their first piece of silverware for the season.

Celtic’s victory was their third against Aberdeen this season, including a 4-1 thrashing at Celtic Park in August at the start of the league campaign.

The Australia international has now started the last two games for Celtic and fans were delighted when he gave his side an early lead in the cup final.
