Celtic fans have called on manager Brendan Rodgers to drop Nir Bitton after he failed to impress against Borussia Monchengladbach on Wednesday night.
The Israeli international looked out of his depth throughout the match, as Celtic lost the crunch Champions League tie at home to 2-0.
Hearts were in fans’ mouths midway through the first half, as Bitton inadvertently headed the ball in the path of Gladbach striker Jonas Hoffman who raced through on goal before Craig Gordon saved his teammate’s blushes.
Bitton was withdrawn in the second half, with Stuart Armstrong replacing him alongside captain Scott Brown.
Celtic fans were not impressed with their number six, with many believing that he should not have started in Rodgers’ side.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
Bitton getting it in the neck here. Sadly I have to agree. Not at the races and switches off badly at times.

I think the change is Bitton, seems off the pace and Brown is doing two jobs as a result.

Bitton, Rogic and Sviatchenko have been awful.. Getting forced into making so many basic errors. We need to calm things down

Bitton has been poor again. Causing Sviatchenko to be dragged out of position & Brown to do the running for two.

Bitton has been a mainstay of Celtic’s midfield under Rodgers this season, with the former Liverpool boss opting to choose Bitton over Armstrong and Callum McGregor to partner captain Brown.
The former FC Ashdod midfielder is now entering his fourth season with the Hoops, and has made 121 appearances in all competitions as well as scoring 11 goals during that time.
