Kolo Toure has come into Celtic’s back four for Jozo Simunovic for the club’s clash against Manchester City on Wednesday evening – and fans took to Twitter and shared their surprise at the decision.
Toure is lining up to make his 10th appearance for the Scottish giants against his former club after completing a move in the summer following his Liverpool contract running out.
The experienced centre-back has been selected over Simunovic, 22, who played the full 90 minutes in the convincing 6-1 victory over Kilmarnock at the weekend.
Fans took to social media to express that they were shocked at the line-up change, with some expecting Simunovic to be in the starting eleven.
Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:
@ThomasTambo I would have played toure RB and kept simunovic in

* For tonight anyway. Griffiths, Simunovic, maybe Roberts all first 11 players, maybe others over season. Whole squad (domestically) strong.

Surprised to see Simunovic on the bench. Expected him to start.

Surprised no Simunovic for Celtic. Would have thrown him in.

Simunovic completed a move to Celtic Park in 2015 following a spell with Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb.
He has featured in 20 encounters for the Hoops following his move, including three appearances for Brendan Rodgers’ side in the new campaign.
Celtic are in good form domestically, but they will still have the humiliating 7-0 defeat suffered at the hands of Barcelona in their minds as they line-up for their second Champions League clash against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
In other Celtic team news, one of the team’s defenders is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a thigh injury.
