Celtic recorded a comfortable 3-0 victory against Aberdeen in Sunday’s Betfred Cup final to pick up their first piece of silverware this season – and fans reacted on Twitter with pride as they reflected on the performance.
It was the club’s 100th major trophy since their formation and it was fully deserved because they have been in superb form so far this season.
The Hoops remain unbeaten in the Scottish Premiership and they demonstrated their dominance over their league rivals Aberdeen in the final at Hampden Park.
Tom Rogic opened the scoring with a superb left-footed strike before James Forrest doubled the lead with a terrific finish after a powerful run through midfield.
The play-maker then capped off a sensational display by earning his side a penalty in the second half which Mousa Dembele duly dispatched.
Rogic and Forrest were arguably Celtic’s outstanding performers as Brendan Rodgers’ side strolled to victory to secure their first trophy of the campaign.
Celtic could go on to pick up the treble given their early dominance in the Premiership and the fact they are favourites to lift the Scottish FA Cup.
It was their third victory against Aberdeen this season and fans were celebrating all through the night on Twitter and were still reflecting on the achievement on Monday morning.
