Celtic fans are distraught on Twitter after left-back Kieran Tierney suffered a suspected broken ankle in training.

The Daily Record claims Brendan Rodgers kept the news under wraps during his Friday press conference, after Tierney was taken to Glasgow hospital on Thursday afternoon.

Tierney, 19, has been in superb form for the 47-time Scottish champions this season, missing just one of Celtic’s 21 league and cup encounters as they sit at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

Celtic’s number 63 is now definitely out of Saturday’s clash against Aberdeen and Scotland’s World Cup qualifier against England in November, as Celtic staff await the results of an MRI scan.

Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to share their sympathies with Tierney, with many gutted at the news that one of their star men is set to be ruled out.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Teenage star Tierney, who was a product of the successful youth academy at Celtic, is expected to be replaced by Honduras international Emilio Izaguirre against Aberdeen.

Since his debut in April 2015 against Dundee, Tierney has gone on to make 54 appearances in all competitions, finding the back of the net once against Motherwell in last season’s 7-0 triumph.

In other Celtic team news, fans have called on Rodgers to start this midweek hero after the disappointing performances of Nir Bitton.
