Chris Sutton has slammed Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon for his howler against Astana, but says the Hoops did well to get a 1-1 result.
Celtic fell behind after 19 minutes thanks to some questionable goalkeeping by Gordon at a corner and then had to repel a wave of Astana efforts to make it 2-0.
Gordon stepped out to collect a cross from said corner, but was left in no man’s land when an Astana head got to the ball first to fire into an empty net and Sutton was wholly unimpressed after the game.
“Well dug in!” said Sutton on his Twitter page after the game.
Well dug in! Leigh Griffiths wallop stunning! Gordon stinker for goal. Bullied in 1st half. Subs good. Job done but still work to do👍👍

“Leigh Griffiths wallop stunning. Gordon stinker for the goal and then bullied din the first half.
“Substitutes did good, job done, but still work to do.”
Yuri Logvinenko’s header was not enough to win the game for Astana with Leigh Griffiths popping up with a late strike to rescue a point from the fixture.
Celtic will be hoping they can produce a similar second leg display against Astana to the one they produced against Lincoln Red Imps after losing the first game 1-0.
Brendan Rodgers was pleased with his side’s resilience after the game, but will have been worried by his side’s obvious frailties at set-pieces.
In other Celtic news, Gordon was not the only one that had Hoops fans fuming after the game.
