Kieran Tierney says the extensive pre-season work the Celtic squad is currently undertaking will have them raring to go for the new season.

Celtic kick off their competitive campaign with a crucial Champions League qualifier next week and Tierney says the side will be ready.

The full-back broke into the Celtic first-team last season, cementing his place in the starting eleven, and says the pre-season tour of Slovenia is just what the squad needs.

“I’m getting there in my fitness and the training has been hard – we have been doing double sessions most days so it’s great for us.,” said Tierney speaking to the club website.

“We are all working hard but it’s for our benefit and it will pay off for us this season.”

Celtic won their second pre-season game 1-0 result against Sturm Graz on Sunday after opening their tour with a 2-2 draw against NK Celje.

Tierney is set for another runout against Olimpija Ljubljana on Wednesday and says the hot weather is nothing but a bonus for the squad.

“The game in Graz was a good test for us and another 45 minutes for all of us which is good for our fitness,” he said.

“It was a bit cooler than the other night, which was brutal for our first match, but it will all help us.”

Celtic’s opponents are yet to be confirmed but it will be either Flora Talinn or Lincoln Red Imps in the first leg next week.

In other Celtic news, the Hoops have received a bid for their midfielder prompting Rodgers into a decision.
