Leigh Griffiths is in doubt for the highly anticipated clash against Rangers, according to Sky Sports.

Sky Sports report that the Celtic striker has missed training ahead of Saturday’s league clash against their rivals.

The 26-year-old would be a huge loss for the reigning Scottish champions and Brendan Rodgers will be hopeful he is still available for the clash.

Griffiths has already scored two league goals this season against Aberdeen and St Johnstone and is Celtic’s main threat in front of goal.

The striker has starred in 115 encounters for the club scoring 74 goals and has played a key role in helping Celtic win the league the last two years.

New signing Moussa Dembele would be the likely replacement to fill the large void left by Griffiths but the 20-year-old has only started one league game so far this season.

Celtic currently boast a 100 per cent record in their first three league matches of the season and are hoping to extend their lead at the top of the table.

Second-placed Rangers sit just a point behind but have played a game more, and will hope to leapfrog their rivals when the pair meet in a 12pm kick off at Celtic Park.

The pair are expected to battle for Scottish Premiership title this season and it will be the first league meeting between the two sides since the 2011/12 season.

In the latest Celtic team news, three senior players have been left out of the club’s Champions League squad.
