Griffiths, 26, was named in the Scotland squad along with Celtic team-mates Craig Gordon, Kieran Tierney and James Forrest.
Griffiths took to his personal Twitter account to register his delight at being named in the squad for the Malta clash on 4 September.

There were some notable omissions from the squad, with Aston Villa’s £12million signing Ross McCormack and Middlesbrough’s Jordon Rhodes left out by Gordon Strachan.
Celtic captain Scott Brown announced his retirement from international football last week, and his 44 caps for his country will be a huge loss.
Griffiths will be fighting for a starting place against Malta with Championship strikers Steven Fletcher, Chris Martin and Steven Naismith.
The striker has made seven appearances for Scotland since his international debut in 2012 but has yet to score a goal his country and was left out of the squad for the end-of-season friendlies against Italy and France.
Griffiths led the Celtic line with huge success last season, bagging 40 goals and providing eight assists in 51 games across all competitions.
