Rio Ferdinand has hailed Everton new arrival Ashley Williams as the most consistent defender in the league for the last five years.
The Toffees announced the signing of the Wales captain from Swansea on their club website on Wednesday afternoon.
The signing of the experienced 31-year-old has been applauded by many and Ferdinand took to Twitter to post his feelings about the deal.
The Manchester United legend hailed on his personal Twitter account Williams’ three main qualities of leadership, experience and consistency over the last four to five years.
Ferdinand was largely considered as one of the best centre-backs of his era.
The 81-time capped England international became the world record transfer in the summer of 2002 after joining Manchester United from rivals Leeds in a £29million move.
The now-turned football pundit won the Premier League six times, as well as the FA Cup, League Cup and the Champions League.
Williams has enjoyed great success for Swansea in the Premier League including playing a key role in getting the Welsh club into the Europa League after qualifying through winning the League Cup in 2013.
The Wales skipper has become the Toffees’ third major summer signing following the captures of Maarten Stekelenburg and Idrissa Gueye earlier in the window.
In other Everton transfer news, Kalidou Koulibaly’s agent has revealed there will be an announcement about the defender’s future in the coming days.
