Charlie Nicholas has predicted West Ham to beat Accrington 3-0 in the EFL Cup on Wednesday night and stated that Michail Antonio will attract attention from Premier League big guns.

Sky Sports pundit Nicholas has backed Slaven Bilic’s side to put their Premier League form behind them and pick up their second victory at the London stadium against the fourth tier outfit.

The Hammers have lost 4-2 in consecutive weeks, most recently at West Brom, which inflicted a fourth straight defeat on the Irons and sent them into the relegation zone with three points.

Ex-Arsenal man Nicholas also stated if in-form attacker Antonio continues to get on the scoresheet, then he will be targeted by the bigger clubs.

“West Ham are another team that need a result badly,” Nicholas wrote in his Sky Sports column. “They also need to tell Michail Antonio to stop scoring goals or he’s going to get hunted by a big side!

“This is also an opportunity to get a first win at the London Stadium since their victory over Bournemouth. Slaven Bilic is certainly getting frustrated, I expect there to be anger in the Hammers camp.”

Versatile attacker Antonio has been in sparkling form for the east London club this season, scoring five headed goals in four consecutive games.

Antonio earned his first national call-up in August, when Sam Allardyce named the attacker in his first England squad.

London-born Antonio moved to the Hammers from Nottingham Forest last summer, where he scored 13 goals in 38 appearances in all competitions last season.
