Loic Remy is set to be named in the Chelsea squad to face Newcastle on Saturday despite his impending move to China, Football Insider sources understand.

The French striker has returned to training after a groin injury and is ready to return to the matchday squad for the Premier League match at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea intend to keep Remy until closer to 26 February, which is when the China transfer window closes, while January loan signing Alexandre Pato builds up his fitness.

Football Insider sources understand Remy, 29, is a target of Shanghai Shenhua and newly promoted Hebei Fortune.

A bid for the French striker has been submitted from the newly-rich Chinese clubs that is around the £14million mark, which would represent a profit for a player who has barely played for Chelsea this season.

The Premier League champions are ready to cash in on Remy, but are set to hang on to him for at least another week ahead of key fixtures against Newcastle, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City.

Remy came close to a permanent transfer to Leicester in the recently-shut January window but talks over a £10.5million deal collapsed on deadline day.
