Chelsea have joined the race for Everton target Graziano Pelle and are preparing to place a bid this week, according to a report.

Sky Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims on his website that Antonio Conte is planning to table a bid for the centre-forward over the next few days, as the former Italy manager looks to provide competition for Diego Costa at Stamford Bridge.

Toffees boss Ronald Koeman wants to be reunited with the forward who first played for him at Feyenoord as he looks to bolster the Blues’ attacking options ahead of the new season.

It is said Southampton insist that the 30-year-old, who has gone on holiday following Italy’s elimination from Euro 2016, is not for sale to either Chelsea or Everton.

But the Telegraph claimed at the weekend that the Saints are looking for between £10million and £20million for their star striker’s services this summer.

Pelle has only one year remaining on his current deal and could now follow Victor Wanyama and Sadio Mane out of the exit door before the start of the 2016-17 Premier League season.

The former Parma goal-scorer represents hot property after enjoying another prolific season at St Mary’s Stadium, scoring 14 goals and providing seven assists throughout the campaign.

Koeman is keen to stop the in-form striker moving to west London and land Pelle for the third time, after signing him for Dutch giants Feyenoord in 2013 and then bringing him to Southampton two years ago.

The move could be one of several new additions at Goodison Park this summer as Farhad Moshiri prepares to spend big in order to secure European football for the Blues next season.

In other Everton news, this Euro 2016 goalkeeper is being linked with a move to Goodison Park.
