Chelsea are in talks to sign Argentina winger Ezequiel Lavezzi in the January window, according to one the player’s representatives.
Lavezzi’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires at the end of the season and he has been linked to some of Europe’s elite clubs.
Alessandro Moggi, who works with Lavezzi’s agent Alejandro Mazzoni, has said there is interested in the 30-year-old from Chelsea, Barcelona and Inter Milan.
“Inter are the most interested team at the moment,” Moggi told Sky Italia. “There was interest from Barcelona and Chelsea, and we’re talking with Chelsea.”
Lavezzu has slipped down the PSG pecking order this season. He has made 21 appearances for the runaway French leaders but most have been as a substitute and he is not expected to renew his contract when it expires in the summer.
Lavezzi is no longer an automatic starter for PSG but he remains a key player for Argentina, for whom he has earned 48 caps.
He scored the country’s only goal in in their 1-1 World Cup qualifier draw with Brazil in November and is a regular starter for the national team.
