Jose Mourinho is the manager to lead Chelsea out of their slump and there is “no chance” of him leaving the club, according to his agent Jorge Mendes.

The Premier League champions were given a boost on Wednesday when they followed three consecutive losses with a 2-1 Champions League win over Dynamov Kiev.

This lifted Chelsea to second in Gorup G but they remain rooted in 15th in the Premier League after suffering six defeats in 11 matches to pile the pressure on Mourinho.

But the Portugese’s long-standing representative Mendes is in doubt about Mourinho’s ability to end the rot and remain as Chelsea manager.

“He doesn’t need to prove anything to anybody,” Mendes told BBC Sport. “He knows what to do. Many people are saying these things but there is no chance [he will leave]. He will solve the problem. He is the best.”

The Stamford Bridge faithful gave a ringing endorsement of Mourinho on Wednesday by cheering for him at regular intervals of the Kiev match.

“What the fans did for me is not normal or they don’t read papers, listen to television, pundits and commentators – or they have a big heart or they recognise that I am good professional that gives everything to the club,” Mourinho said afterwards.

“I brought great moments for the club and have they a great memory. But it’s not normal for such support – with not just such a bad run of results but fundamentally due to what people read in newspapers, listen to on television – and I don’t know how to thank them.

“The only thing I can say is that until my last day with this club – be it four years, 10 years, 15 years it doesn’t matter how long, I will give everything for them.”

Mourinho will not be in the stands when Chelsea go to the Stadium of Light for Saturday’s clash against Sunderland after being handed a one-match stadium ban for his conduct in the team’s recent defeat to West Ham.
