Diego Costa is set to be fit for Chelsea’s showdown against Liverpool on Saturday in a major boost to under-fire Jose Mourinho, Football Insider sources understand.

Costa was sent to hospital for x-rays after damaging ribs on Tuesday when the holders were knocked out of the League Cup by Stoke and also underwent further scans at the club’s Cobham headquarters.

It is understood that the Spain international has suffered only bruising to his side and should be fit to face Jurgen Klopp’s visiting team at Saturday lunchtime.

Costa’s likely availability is a boost to Mourinho’s team, who have lost half of their 10 Premier League matches and languish in 15th in the table.
