Ezequiel Lavezzi has delivered a blow to Chelsea by joining the stampede to the Chinese Super League, Football Insider sources understand.

The Premier League champions have held talks with the Argentine winger about a summer transfer when his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires at the end of the season.

But a source has told Football Insider that Lavezzi has rejected Chelsea’s advances to move to newly promoted Hebei Fortune.

The 30-year-old is finalising terms with the Chinese club and is expected to complete a move before the China transfer window closes on 26 February.

Hebei Fortune signed former Arsenal winger Gervinho in the January window in a deal worth around £12million and have also made a bid for Chelsea striker Loic Remy.

The Argentina international has slipped down the pecking order at PSG this season and started only four of the French club’s Premier League and Champions League matches this season.

Despite no longer being an automatic starter for PSG he remains a key member of the Argentina squad.

The newly-rich Chinese clubs are willing to outbid even Premier League outfits in a bit to land players who are still in the peak of their careers.Ramires, Gervinho, Freddy Guarin, Jackson Martinez and Alex Teixeira have all moved from Europe to China in recent weeks.
