Chris Sutton has slammed referee Craig Thomson for having another “howler” as Celtic beat Rangers 1-0 in the Scottish League Cup semi-final at Hampden Park on Sunday afternoon.
Striker Moussa Demeble’s audacious flick helped secure a late victory for Brendan Rodgers’ side against their Old Firm rivals.
Referee Thomson disallowed Erik Sviatchenko’s goal for Celtic, as the likes of Scott Sinclair, Tom Rogic, Dembele and Stuart Armstrong forced a number of good saves from keeper Matt Gilks.
BT sports pundit Sutton claimed that Mark Warburton’s side were mauled during the Old Firm fixture, as the Hoops registered 24 shots on goal to the Gers’ eight during the game.
“A 1-0 mauling!” Sutton wrote on his personal Twitter account. “Mismatch on the pitch. Rangers dogged but not in Celtics league. Craig Thomson another howler..”

The late strike by Dembele was his fourth goal against the Ibrox club, after he scored a hat-trick during the 5-1 thumping of their Glasgow counterparts in September.
Additionally, the Bhoys will now meet Aberdeen in the final of the Scottish League Cup, after the Dons beat Morton 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.
In other Celtic team news, Celtic supporters expressed their delight for Moussa Dembele after his winning goal against the Gers.
