Chris Sutton believes Brendan Rodgers has concerns over the defensive work of youngster Patrick Roberts.

On-loan Manchester City winger Roberts helped the Bhoys to a comfortable 4-0 win at Ross County on Wednesday night, by opening the scoring and supplying two assists in the SPL clash.

The talented 19-year-old is regarded as one of the brightest talents in the English game, having progressed through highly-rated Fulham academy.

But, when club legend Sutton was asked whether he thought Roberts should start the Hoops’ Champions League fixture at Borussia Monchengladbach on November 1, this was his response:

Roberts has played 14 SPL, Champions League and League Cup games for Rodgers’ side this term. He has scored two goals and provided double the amount of assists.

The England under-20 international started in Celtic’s 7-0 humiliation in the Champions League at Barcelona in September, where he was substituted after 68 minutes.

Since then Roberts has made cameo appearances from the bench against Premier League side Manchester City and Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach.

In the league the Bhoys are now seven points clear at the top of the table, with a game in hand against their nearest rivals Aberdeen.

In other Celtic team news, supporters have reacted with pride and surprise on Twitter following Zidane’s comments on Moussa Dembele.
