Stan Collymore believes the “youth and engine” at Tottenham has been one of their positives in the Premier League this season.
Broadcaster Collymore provided a quarter-term report for the north London club, as he also praised the central defensive duo of Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld.
Title-chasing Spurs are fifth in the league table, with 20 points from ten games and they remain the only unbeaten side in England’s top-flight.
They are three points off leaders Manchester City, with the top three in the league only being separated by goal difference.
Former Liverpool striker Collymore shared what Mauricio Pochettino’s side have been doing well this season, but did provide one critical aspect of their play, as they search for a maiden Premier League title.
“Positives are the youth and engine that Spurs now have in most positions,” Collymore wrote in his BoyleSports column. “The two central defenders are as good as you’ll find in the league and there are nice partnerships throughout the line-up.
“Negatives – goals. Son has stepped up in a couple of games, Janssen is finally off the mark and Kane is nearly ready to come back.
“I just feel, like their neighbours, that goals scored could really be a factor this season and City in particular are way out in front with match-winning goal-scorers.”
Pochettino’s men drew 1-1 with Leicester City on Saturday afternoon, their fifth draw this season, as they now prepare for a trip to rivals Arsenal on Sunday.
Before that they host German outfit Bayern Leverkusen on Wednesday night at Wembley, in a tough Champions League group encounter.
In other Tottenham team news, this first-team player has issued a warning to Arsenal ahead of the north London clash this Sunday.
