Chelsea have completed the signing of hotshot striker Michy Batshuayi on a five-year contract – and Tottenham’s fans have reacted with frustration on Twitter.
Spurs had targeted the 22-year-old as a prolific signing and held extensive talks with Marseille but Chelsea sealed a £33million deal to blow the competition out of the water.
It is a reminder to many Tottenham fans of when they had agreed to sign Willian three years ago only for the west Londoners to land the Brazilian at the eleventh hour.
Spurs were able to offer Champions League football to Batshuayi, who scored 23 goals in all competitions this season, but that has proved to not be enough.
Spurs are still in the market to sign a striker and have held talks to sign Inter Milan captain Mauro Icardi in a £38million deal.
As the news broke of the Batshuayi deal being confirmed, Spurs fans took to Twitter to share their annoyance at their club missing out on another signing to their London rivals.

Oh so we’re offering £38m for Icardi all of a sudden are we but we wouldn’t pay £31m for Batshuayi? Ludicrous. #THFC

In other Tottenham news, a new bid has been lodged for a prolific striker as Mauricio Pochettino goes head-to-head with PSG.
