Chris Wood has failed in his bid to be fit for Leeds’ Championship clash against Brentford on Saturday afternoon.

The Yorkshire giants’ top scorer suffered a hamstring injury in the midweek win over Reading and has not managed to recover for the clash against the Bees at Elland Road.

Kalvin Phillips, who missed the match against Reading due to suspension, returns to the starting XI in place of Wood in the only change to the team.

Leeds revealed the team news on their official Twitter account an hour before kick-off as they aim to secure their seventh league win in nine games.

Souleymane Doukara is set to spearhead the attack in a new-look 4-4-1-1 formation, with Kemar Roofe given a new role as a second striker behind the Senegalese.

Phillips will link up with fellow academy product Ronaldo Vieira in central midfield, with Hadi Sacko wide on the right and Stuart Dallas taking up a position the left flank.

The Yorkshire giants are currently flying high on the back of a string of impressive results, as they occupy sixth place in the Championship table and could end the weekend in third if they beat Brentford and other results go their way.

In other Leeds team news, these are the first two signings that incoming new owner Andrea Radrizzani will make in the January transfer window.
