Ashley Fletcher will make his full West Ham debut in their Premier League clash against Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.

The striker, 20, has been selected to lead the attack alongside Enner Valencia in a new-look 3-5-2 formation for Slaven Bilic’s team.

Manuel Lanzini is in the squad for the first team this season after recovering from a thigh injury but there is no place once again for Dimitri Payet.

Bilic has made wholesale changes from the team that was eliminated from the Europa League at the hands of minnows Astra Giurgiu on Thursday night.

Denied of so many attacking options through injury, including Payet, Andy Carroll and Andre Ayew, Bilic has decided to change the formation in an attempt to win at Etihad Stadium for a second consecutive campaign.

Payet has made only one substitute appearance for West Ham in their six competitive matches of this season, although Bilic said on Wednesday he was close to fitness and was in line to start against Astra or City.

That has proved not to be the case as the London club’s outstanding player of last season is once again left out.

In other West Ham team news, the club have agreed the terms of a £24million transfer.
