Juan Mata has been given the nod over Ander Herrera to start for Manchester United in their showdown against Chelsea on Sunday.
Mata was demoted to the bench for three Premier League matches in January as Louis van Gaal preferred Ander Herrera to his fellow Spaniard.
But the former Chelsea playmaker has been impressive since returning to the team in United’s last two fixtures, the wins over Derby in the FA Cup and Stoke in the league.
Mata has been used almost exclusively on the right wing this season but was handed his favourite No10 role in midweek, with Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard starting on the flanks.
Manager Van Gaal has decided to persist with Mata in the middle away at Chelsea, with Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial once again set to start on the flanks.
In other Manchester United team news, Marouane Fellaini has kept his place and been selected ahead of Morgan Schneiderlin.
Manchester United: De Gea; Darmian, Smalling, Blind, Borthwick-Jackson; Carrick, Fellaini; Lingard, Mata, Martial; Rooney. Subs: Romero, Varela, McNair, Schneiderlin, Herrera, Pereira, Depay.
