Tottenham have made eight changes to the side that beat Gillingham 5-0 in the EFL Cup in midweek, with Eric Lamela dropped to the bench for the clash against Middlesbrough.
Hugo Lloris, Kyle Walker, Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen, Victor Wanyama, Dele Alli, Moussa Sissoko and Son all return to the starting XI for the clash at the Riverside.
Star striker Harry Kane was already an absentee for this fixture, having injured his ankle during his sides previous league win against Sunderland, with Vincent Jansen taking his place up top.
Christian Eriksen retains his place in midfield after scoring two goals in midweek, after being dropped from manager Mauricio Pochettino’s previous league fixture.

Pochettino’s side are third in the Premier League table, with eleven points from their opening five games.
The north London club have registered three wins this term and will be looking to pick up their third consecutive victory in the league when they take on Boro at the Riverside.
Spurs were comfortable winners in midweek when they beat League One outfit Gillingham 5-0 to progress through to the next round of the EFL Cup.
