Liverpool are preparing to welcome back Phillippe Coutinho for pre-season training on Monday, according to a report.

The Liverpool star was left out of Brazil’s squad for this summer’s Olympic games and, after being given extended time off by Jurgen Klopp following his Copa exertions, he will now be welcomed back into the fold.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Coutinho will join up with the rest of the Liverpool squad at the start of the coming week as preparations are stepped up ahead of the new Premier League season.

The playmaker scored eight goals and provided five assists from just 24 starts in the Premier League this season and has developed into arguably Liverpool’s outstanding player.

The former Inter Milan man will not compete in the Olympic games having already featured in one football tournament this summer.

The 25-year-old was part of his country’s underwhelming centenary Copa América campaign that saw Brazil fail to make it past the group stages of the competition and Dunga sacked as the international manager.

The news will please fans of the Merseyside club as Coutinho will have the benefit of a full pre-season programme at Melwood.

In other Liverpool news, the Reds have offered Nathaniel Clyne to Barcelona even though he is a mainstay of Jurgen Klopp’s team.
