Philippe Coutinho hopes to win the Premier League and the Champions League with Liverpool according to his former coach, despite interest from Spanish giants.

Barcelona and Real Madrid have been heavily linked with the Reds midfielder but Rodney Goncalves claims Coutinho is “very happy” at Liverpool.

Goncalves coached Coutinho as a youth player at Vasco de Gama and the Brazilian admitted the duo are still in touch and he believes his former student has big ambitions with Liverpool.

“His ambition is to be in the list of the top 10 players [in the world.]” Rodney Goncalves told the Daily Telegraph.

“Whenever we speak, he always says that he is very happy at Liverpool and his biggest challenge is to win the Premier League and Champions League with Liverpool.”

The 24 year-old has been in emphatic form so far this season and already has five goals and five assists to his name, helping the Reds reach the top of the Premier League table.

Coutinho was once again impressive in Brazil’s clash against Argentina and scored a stunning individual goal as his side defeated their South American rivals 3-0 on Thursday evening.

In other Liverpool news, Simon Mignolet delivered a message on Twitter ahead of Belgium’s international clash against Estonia on Sunday evening.
