Crystal Palace have made a bid in excess of £20 million for West Brom striker Sadio Berahino, weeks after the London club bid £25 million for Liverpool striker Christian Benteke, according to a report.

Sky Sports reported earlier this month that the Eagles had tabled a £25 million bid for Benteke, but the Belgian has vowed to fight for his place at Anfield.

It is now being reported that Palace have made a bid in excess of £20 million for the England under-21 international, Berahino, who is in the final year of his Albion contract.

Sky Sports sources say that the 2016 FA Cup finalists are not the only club interested in Berahino’s signature though, with Premier League rivals Stoke putting in a £20 million bid for the highly-rated forward.

Kismet Eris, the agent of Liverpool’s £30million rated striker Benteke, said that his client wanted to stay and fight for his place in the team.

The bid for Berahino suggests Alan Pardew has directed his interest elsewhere, as he looks to add firepower to his attacking line for the forthcoming Premier League campaign.

In other Liverpool transfer news, a loan deal is on the cards as a loyal club veteran does not travel to the club’s pre-season tour of America.
