Curtis Davies believes Steve Bruce will do a “great job” at Aston Villa, following his appointment as manager on Wednesday evening.
The Championship club announced on its official Twitter account that former Birmingham City boss Bruce has replaced Roberto Di Matteo as manager.
Di Matteo was sacked after 124 days in charge of the Midlands club, with only one win to his name in 12 fixtures.
Now, former Villa defender Davies has backed the appointment of his former Hull boss Bruce at the second-tier outfit.
“Great appointment for Aston Villa no better candidate in my opinion,” Davies wrote on his personal Twitter account. “I’m sure the gaffer will do a great job for them.”

Premier League centre-back Davies won promotion with Bruce last season via the play-offs, as Hull beat Sheffield Wednesday 1-0.
Bruce left the Tigers during the summer, and he now has the task of guiding Villa back to the Premier League after relegation last season.
Villa are currently 19th in the Championship with ten points from 11 games, after registering one win, seven draws and three losses this season.
Bruce’s first game in charge will be against Midlands rivals Wolves at Villa Park on Saturday evening.
In other Aston Villa team news, supporters on Twitter have backed the appointment of Bruce.
