Chelsea defender David Luiz “loves” the Tottenham team and has hailed Harry Kane as an “amazing player” but feels Spurs are still a strong side without him.
Tottenham face the Blues at the weekend in an FA Cup semi-final and the winners will play either Arsenal or Manchester City in the final.
The two London rivals are competing for the Premier League title, but this weekend they are battling in the cup.
Luiz has emerged as one of the Premier League’s best defenders this campaign and was included in the PFA team of the year.
Meanwhile, Spurs forward Kane was also named in the team of the year and has been shortlisted for the PFA player of the year too.
The 23-year-old has been in sensational form this season, scoring 25 goals in 31 matches across all competitions.
He will be available to lead the line against Chelsea on Saturday, but has been unfortunate with a couple of injury setbacks throughout the season.
Luiz believes that Kane is a fantastic striker and also acknowledged that Spurs have several talented options in their side ahead of the cup clash.
“He [Kane] is an amazing player, having an amazing season,” Luiz told the Evening Standard. “But even when he was not there [through injury], Spurs scored a lot.
“With or without him, it was always going to be difficult to beat them at Wembley.”
Luiz also paid tribute to Kane’s high-flying teammates.
“For me they are an amazing team with an amazing coach in Maurico Pochettino. They are the best physical team in the League. All 11 players are monsters. I love that team.”
Luiz is likely to be lining up directly against Kane and will hope to keep the England international quiet.
Kane has become one of the most consistent scorers in the top flight during recent seasons and has developed rapidly since breaking through the club’s academy.
The forward will be hoping to make an impact against rivals Chelsea and steer Spurs towards their first piece of silverware since the League Cup in 2008.
In other Tottenham news, Frank Lampard has shared what is magical about the club’s player.
