David Luiz believes that Liverpool “controlled” the first half of their 2-1 win at Chelsea..

Liverpool secured three points with a notable triumph at Stamford Bridge on Friday night and continued their recent impressive form.

First-half goals from Dejan Lovren and Jordan Henderson, who hit a remarkable long-rang effort, meant that Diego Costa’s strike turned out to be just a consolation.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are now beginning to hit top form and also defeated reigning champions Leicester 4-1 in last weekend.

Chelsea defender Luiz, who was making his second club debut after rejoining in the summer, claims that Liverpool were very impressive in the opening 45 minutes.

“Liverpool controlled the game in the first half with a lot of possession, changing position,” he said, as quoted by the official Chelsea website. “Their second goal was amazing, the first one was a quick free-kick and we must pay attention to this sort of thing because they started better than us.”

Luiz went on to state that Chelsea dominated the second period, but the home side failed to build any serious pressure and Liverpool’s energy proved too much.

The Reds have begun to have the qualities of a typical Klopp side and their impressive energy and attacking drive has been a big part of the club’s early success.

Their opening day 4-3 win over Arsenal was a sign to come that Liverpool will be a real danger going forward this season, with their only blip so far coming in a 2-0 defeat to Burnley.

Roberto Firmino, Philippe Coutinho and Adam Lallana have all started the campaign in impressive form and have built a dangerous attacking unit.

Henderson and summer recruit Georginio Wijanldum delivered solid performances against Chelsea to prove that there is quality in every position.

In other Liverpool news, Jamie Carragher claims that Chelsea’s defender should have been axed for his Twitter post before Friday’s match.
