David Seaman wants Arsenal to sign up Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to new contracts as soon as possible.
Gunners icon Seaman is desperate for his old side not to become a club that continues to sell their best players, rather than keeping the likes of Sanchez and challenging for the title.
“Whatever it takes, Arsenal should do to keep especially Ozil, Sanchez and the Ox as well – these are quality players,” Seaman told talkSPORT, as quoted by Goal.
“We used to be a team that would sell our best players. I thought we had gone past that and now the test is what sort of team are we now. Are we a team that lets its best players go or can we still afford to keep them?”
The trio were not in the best of form in Sunday’s 2-1 loss to Manchester City, despite Sanchez’s inch-perfect assist for Theo Walcott early on.
However, all three have been sensational this season with a combined 29 goals for the Gunners throughout the 2016-17 campaign.
With Ozil, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Sanchez’s contracts ending in the summer of 2018, Arsene Wenger must act quickly in order to secure their long-term futures at the Emirates.
England international Oxlade-Chamberlain was withdrawn just 13 minutes after coming on against Pep Guardiola’s City on Sunday, after complaining of a hamstring problem.
It remains unclear if he is to be fit for the Gunners’ Boxing Day clash against West Brom in a week’s time.
However, Wenger will have Sanchez and Ozil to choose from as the north London outfit look to climb back up to second with three points.
