Moussa Dembele has passed a Tottenham medical and has finalised the terms of cut-price move from Fulham, Football Insider sources understand.
As exclusively revealed here, the 19-year-old was permission by the Londoners to undergo a Spurs medical on Saturday after the two clubs agreed a deal.
A Tottenham source has told Football Insider that the club will pay an initial £1.7million plus add-ons for the young striker.
Mauricio Pochettino remained tight-lipped about the transfer when questioned before and after Spurs’ 4-1 FA Cup fourth-round win at Colchester.
But all parties are confident that Dembele will be registered as a Tottenham player before the transfer window shuts on Monday night.
Discussions have taken place between the London clubs about a deal over the last week and there was finally a breakthrough in the last 24 hours amid competing interest from Manchester United, Monaco and Juventus.
Fulham have been forced into selling Dembele because he is out of contract at the end of the season and has rebuffed attempts to keep him at Craven Cottage.
The west Londoners were keen for the Frenchman to join another English club rather than move overseas for a peppercorn fee of £300,000 at the end of the season.
Spurs’ move for Dembele means they are unlikely to pursue Saido Berahino in the final 48 hours of the window.
In other Tottenham transfer news, the club have made an enquiry for Coventry midfielder James Maddison.
