Dimitri Payet picked up 45 minutes under his belt for France as he continues to return to full fitness.

The midfielder replaced Anthony Martial at half-time against Italy on Thursday night and help his side complete a 3-1 victory in the friendly fixture.

Payet, 29, was an integral part of France’s success at Euro 2016 as they finished runners up to Portugal.

The attacking midfielder continued his fine form from last season with West Ham and has been  a major loss at the start of the new campaign.

His exploits with the hosts at the Euros meant he was unable to make an impact of the Hammers’ start of the season, despite a cameo appearance in the defeat to Chelsea.

The club’s supporters will be thrilled to hear his return to action is progressing and he could be in line to play in the next league game against Watford on Saturday of next week.

West Ham have suffered two defeats from their first three games already and Slaven Bilic has been restricted on the number of senior options.

Manuel Lanzini is also returning from a lay-out and the two senior players are were apart of the club’s best starting XI last season.

Midfielder Payet was a key figure for West Ham last season and was a nominee for the PFA Player of the Year.

He joined West Ham from Marseille last summer for around £12.5 million and was integral to the Hammers sensational season, scoring 12 goals and providing 14 assists in all competitions.
